I've Been Visiting

Our Purpose and Vision for the future of Sherman Bible

We realize you’re probably on this page because you’re in one of two situations:

  1. You’ve never visited before, and you want to check and see if it’s even worth your time to get out of bed and mosey up to the church on a Sunday morning.
  2. You’ve been visiting a few times, and everything looks okay from what you’ve seen but you want to dig a little deeper and see why we exist and if this might be a good long-term place for you to connect with.

In either situation, you’ve probably got some of the same questions, and we hope to help you find the answers you need quickly!

I'VE BEEN VISITING (click here)

Sherman Bible is a warm, friendly place. If you want to just visit anonymously to see what we’re all about, we’re fine with that. We’re not going to embarrass you or put you on the spot, you can just come, relax, and check us out. One of the neatest things about Sherman Bible is the people. They are kind, inviting, and glad you might come visit. We have some great folks that will meet you in the parking lot, welcome you, and point you to the worship center. Friendly folks are available to help you find your way. We have 3 services on Sunday mornings, at 8:45, 10:10, and 11:30.. We have excellent nursery, preschool, children, and student programs all hours, so come give us a try! We also have a 6pm service on Sundays at our Joshua's Crossing campus. For more information about our Joshua's Crossing location, click here.

Some of the most common questions potential people ask are:

What should I expect?

Sherman Bible is a friendly church. There are parking lot attendants, greeters, and ushers to help you know where to go and what to do. They are there to serve you. We have excellent children and student programs, so if you have kids, drop them off, have a cup of coffee and a muffin, then head to the worship center. Our music style is contemporary, with a few hymns thrown in every now and then. Our pastor, Dennis Henderson, is a down-to-earth communicator who speaks like he’s talking to you, not yelling at you. We’re pretty laid back, but we're serious about helping people connect with Jesus and the church. We think you’ll like it here!

What do you have for my kids?

We have great ministries for your kids, and childcare provided at almost everything. For information on children’s ministry, click here. For information about student ministry, click here.

What do you believe?

Our basic doctrinal beliefs are found in the What We Believe page. We know many people want to know about the controversial issues like what we believe regarding speaking in tongues, end-times, and other things. For our practice statement, which outlines our practice and teaching stance regarding areas where members and regular atenders might differ in their beliefs, click here.

How do I get plugged in?

We try to make it easy to help you get to know others in the church, and to find out what opportunities we offer. Click here to find out what might be your next step to get connected.

I’m hurting and need some help. What do you have for me?

We have a ministry devoted entirely to those with hurts, habits, and hang-ups. It meets every single Friday evening (even on Christmas!). It's called Celebrate Recovery, and you can click here to find out more.

What is your mission or purpose/vision for the future?

Our purpose: We exist to bring people into a life-transforming relationship with Jesus Christ.

We want our lives to be dominated by a passion for Jesus and His work.

Our vision: is to continue to grow in spiritual formation, impacting the un-churched community of Grayson County and beyond for Christ and strengthening the church of Grayson County. With God-empowered lives and by His grace, our leadership will guide our church family in continual growth in our church values of seeking, connecting, reaching, and serving.

Who’s in charge around here?

We have elders who are laymen from our church body teamed with pastors who are full-time paid men called, trained, gifted, and commissioned to seek God’s vision for our church and to keep the purity of truth in our teaching and vision. The leadership team is very sensitive to the congregation and their needs and seeks God’s face accordingly. We find this keeps the church focused on ministry and not bickering over things that distract us from the great commission.
